Progress

Progress isn't one number.

Body brings together the evidence you have, where doing so is genuinely supported. It doesn't boil it down to a score.

Progress Photos

What you can see.

Front, side and back, each one optional. A baseline set first, then new sets whenever you like.

  • History of every set
  • Before and after, side by side
  • Draggable comparison
  • Silhouette presentation for privacy
Measurements

What a tape measure says.

Track the places that matter to you. Each has a simple visual guide so you measure the same way every time.

  • Chest, bust, underbust, waist
  • Hips, neck, upper arm, thigh
  • You choose; Body remembers
Weight & Trends

One source of evidence.

Weight from Apple Health or entered by hand, shown as a trend. Where your Health data includes them, estimated body fat and lean mass sit alongside it.

  • Apple Health or manual
  • Estimates, labelled as estimates

Compare, don't guess.

Drag across two photo sets to see exactly where things have changed. Your photos appear as silhouettes if you'd rather they weren't on show.

Your baseline is you

Compared with you, not a population.

Body looks at how you change relative to where you started and how you usually are. It doesn't hold you up against averages, ideal ranges or anyone else's body.

Illustration: the shaded band is your own usual range. No units, no targets.

Weight↓ lower
Waist↓ smaller
Estimated lean mass≈ broadly stable

Together, this is consistent with reducing body fat while maintaining lean mass.

A conceptual example with no real data. It assumes the person told Body they want to reduce body fat.

Weight isn't the whole story

A number on a scale is a start.

Weight can fall while the waist doesn't, or hold still while the body changes. Read together, photos, measurements, weight and estimates say more than any one of them.

Body composition readings from consumer scales are estimates and trend evidence, not medical measurements. Body calls it lean mass, never "muscle".

Intention

Tell it what you're working towards, or nothing at all.

Body can use your intention as context for what it notices. It's context, not a contest.

Reduce body fatBuild muscle or sizeMaintainJust observe

No goal weight, no percentage complete, no deadline, no "behind" or "on track".

Sleep history in QuietStrength Body, shown against the person's own baseline.

Sleep

Last night, against your usual nights.

Sleep history sits against your own baseline, with plain observations about what differs. There's no sleep score, because matching a population average isn't the point.

Sounds

White, pink and brown noise for getting to sleep, with a timer that fades out gently.

Less to do

If Body can know it, it won't ask.

Choose measurements once.

Body remembers them, and your units.

Health data appears when you allow it.

Weight and body composition come in from Apple Health. Entering them by hand is always just as good.

Take your photos.

Body records the date. Each angle is optional.

Step on a compatible scale.Planned

Direct Bluetooth scale support is being designed in. It isn't in the app yet; today, scales reach Body through their own app and Apple Health.

Weight in kg, height in ft and in, measurements in cm: each unit is its own choice.

Principles

What Body doesn't do.

  • Private by designNo account to create. Progress photos stay in the app's own private storage on your iPhone, not in your photo library.
  • No BMINo classifications, no ideal-weight ranges.
  • No arbitrary scoresNo wellness, progress or readiness score.
  • No streaks, no judgementNo nagging, no pressure. You decide what to record and when.
  • Deterministic observationsBody states what the data supports, using fixed rules you could check by hand.
  • No generative health storiesIt won't guess why something changed. It tells you what the data actually supports.
